Pets Inside to Save Lives

An initiative of Dolphin Marine Conservation Park, Pets Inside To Save Lives is a conservation campaign to encourage responsible pet ownership and raise awareness about threatened species by asking the public to pledge to keep dogs and cats inside or contained in yards on the night of September 7th (National threatened species day)

Over 1500 of Australia’s native wildlife species are listed as threatened with 86 of these classified as critically endangered.

Introduced domestic pets such as cats and dogs kill tens of millions of native animals every single year, placing increased pressure on already threatened species; a recent survey suggests that dogs are attacking and killing around 110 koalas in Queensland every year!

But there is something YOU can do to help!

On the night of the 7th September (National Threatened Species Day) make a pledge to keep your dog or cat inside or contained in a yard for the night and join us in our fight against extinction.

Pledging is easy! Simply leave your name, postcode and the number and types of pets you will be keeping inside or in a yard on September 7th the fields to the right.

After National Threatened Species Day we will be calculating just how many dogs and cats Australia committed to keeping contained for that night and how many native lives we saved in the process.

Once you see how easy it is to help save native wildlife, we'd love for you to join with us in fighting extinction on a daily basis by keeping pets inside EVERY night to save lives!
